Please note these digital tools are an addition to the series of spreadsheet tools to test and demonstrate individual EPB standards that can be found on the page support/documents.

A number of digital tools have been created in the U-CERT* project. In order to avoid reinventing the wheel U-CERT project leveraged the spreadsheet based tools created in CEN-CE** and ALDREN*** projects.

With the main aim of ensuring that the outcomes of these EU funded projects are embraced in a meaningful and practical manner by EU's Member States and the EPBD related stakeholder community (e.g. to address requirements for adoption of strategic choices and upscaling of building performance assessement and certification processes), a number of service tools have been developed.

These digital service tools are developed for the building performance assessement, certification and management stakeholder groups of the entire value chain, from building performance experts, to manufacturers and designers, and all the way to the beneficiaries.

National Annexes Tool

The U-CERT Comparison and Calculation tool for National Annexes is a calculation tool for visualising the impact of certain choices and creating a National Annex to the set of EPB standards, taking into account a single-family home, with the possibility to choose from five different combinations of technical systems for heating, hot water and cooling. More information on this digital service tool is available on this U-CERT project webpage page.

Data Exchange Tool

In order to enable data-exchange between the different digital service tools of the U-CERT toolkit and to optimize the user experience for continuous usage of the U-CERT digital tools, JSON export functionality is made available. The JSON files exported from the U-CERT tools can be loaded into an overview report generator for the building being documented, assessed and/or certified. The resulting report can furthermore also be downloaded in PDF format.

Building Operational Rating Toolkit

The U-CERT Building Operational Rating toolkit enables an evidence based decision-making process by using calculated and measured data in Energy & IEQ Performance of Buildings calculations and the Smart Readiness Indicator (SRI) of buildings.

Smart Readiness Indicator Tool

The U-CERT Smart Readiness Indicator (SRI) digital tool brings the latest version of the official EU SRI assessment spreadsheet in a cloud web environment, improving the user experience both on the data input side (most notably for SRI assessors) and also on the interactive visualization side. The man aim of this tool is to simplify and streamline the entire assessment process and on the other hand make salient the added value and benefits brought by smart building technology thus nudge asset owners towards the right decisions.

CEN-CE Operational Energy Performance Tool

This digital service tool leveraging the spreadsheet tool developed in CEN-CE project is a translation of the EN 15378-3 standard, which deals with measured energy performance, covering the space heating and domestic hot water services. This tool focuses on heating only, because the available EPB standards are limited in this respect for the other fields. It translates the measured values to standardized and normalized values which can serve for calculating and comparing based on measured data the operational energy performance of buildings. The following measurements are needed as input: invoices, meter readings, maintenance reports, on-site monitoring by building automation and control system and building management systems. As output the tool provides the delivered energy for heating (space and domestic hot water) against the outdoor temperature and the value for the estimated indoor temperature.

ALDREN TAIL IEQ Performance Tool

This digital service tool brings in a web based environment the ALDREN project developed IEQ tool. ALDREN project developed an index that allows the rating of Indoor Enviromental Quality(IEQ) in buildings that are being designed or are in operation and undergo Deep Energy Renovation (DER) called ALDREN TAIL, in short TAIL. TAIL describes four components of IEQ, i.e.

  • thermal environment (T)
  • acoustic environment (A)
  • indoor air quality (I)
    luminous (visual) environment (L)

as well as the overall quality of the indoor environment.
