EPBD Explained: What’s Ahead for District Heating and Cooling (DHC)

On 19 September 2024, EuroHeat & Power hosted a highly informative workshop titled "EPBD Explained: What’s Ahead for District Heating and Cooling". This session, designed exclusively for their members, provided key insights into the upcoming regulatory changes within the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) and their impact on the district heating and cooling sector.

Key presentations were delivered by experts from Buildings Performance Institute Europe (BPIE) and EPB Center, offering valuable perspectives on how the transition towards low-temperature and more energy-efficient heating and cooling systems can be supported by the revised EPBD.

The event agenda featured:

  • Keynote by Pauline Lucas, Policy Director, EuroHeat & Power
  • Introduction by András Takács, Senior Policy Advisor, EuroHeat & Power
  • Presentations by:
    • Victoria Țăranu, Senior Researcher at Buildings Performance Institute Europe (BPIE)
    • Johann Zirngibl, Board Director at EPB Center and Leader of REHVA’s EU Policy & Advocacy Group
  • A moderated discussion and Q&A session, engaging participants in a deeper exploration of the implications for district heating and cooling networks.

For those who missed the live session or would like to revisit the discussions, the slide deck and webinar recording, of EPB Center & REHVA contribution only (EuroHeat&Power members only event) are now available.
