(EUSEW 2024 Policy Session) From Directive to Action: Supporting the Revised EPBD Transposition and Implementation
Policy Session EUSEW 2024
11 June 2024, 14h30-16h00 CEST
@Charlemagne Room Mansholt in Brussels & livestreamed
This policy session, organised by EPB Center (via its partnership in the iEPB and SmarterEPC LIFE CET projects) and the Next Gen EPC cluster, aimed to address the EU-wide transposition and practical implementation challenges of the EPBD Recast. It explored the complexities involved in aligning diverse legal and regulatory frameworks across EU member states, integrating multiple stakeholder inputs, ensuring practicality and feasibility, harmonizing efforts, and effectively disseminating information. The Build Up Portal has been highlighted as a key resource, offering a single-entry point for accessing comprehensive EPBD guidance documents and other resources to support stakeholders.
Furthermore, this session bridged the directive-to-action gap in implementing the EPBD Recast, a cornerstone of EU sustainable energy policy in the building sector. It made salient the results and ongoing work of the Next Gen EPC cluster's projects funded by Horizon 2020, Horizon Europe, and LIFE programmes.
By showcasing the achievements and insights from these EU-funded projects as well as the integration of the upcoming EPBD Recast Official Guidance Documents from the European Commission and contributions from the EPBD stakeholder community, the session enriched the energy policy debate with practical, evidence-based strategies for the transposition and implementation of the EPBD Recast.
The use of the BUILD UP Portal as a central hub for disseminating the aforementioned resources emphasizes the session's commitment to knowledge sharing and collaborative problem-solving. This approach fosters EU-wide uniformity of efforts in implementing the EPBD Recast.
