Abstract
Document stage: new work item.
Scope
This Standard covers energy performance calculation of water based storage sub-systems used for heating, for domestic hot water or for combination of these.
This standard does not cover sizing or inspection of such storage systems.
This standard will provide a certain flexibility with regard to the methods, the required input data and references to other EPB standards, by the introduction of a normative template in Annex A and Annex B with informative default choices.
Purpose
This Standard is part of a series of standards aiming at international harmonization of the methodology for the assessment of the energy performance of buildings, called “set of EPB standards”.
This EPB standard contribute to overall consistency, unambiguity, transparency and to a technical neutral approach (level playing field).
In a context of intermittent production of renewables, the energy storage has an increasing role. This technology allows increasing the contribution of renewables and ensuring a better comfort. Until now, this technology was not taken into account in the energy performance calculation at ISO level with this degree a precision (hourly time step, stratification of the storage tank, consider the relevant influencing factors). There is a need to harmonise the calculation procedures.
